"DJing on the iPhone"
We worked on this Apple sponsored project in the Fall of 2007 when the iPhone was still new. Class members voted on project ideas to pursue and my idea won out - a DJing application for the iPhone.
My team relied heavily on the use of personas to inform our concept development and chose to create a simple DJ mixer for regular folks. I had to be careful not to let my own experience with DJing software unduly influence the five-person team’s creative process. Though we did not have time for extensive user research, I believe the mix of my experience as a user of DJ applications and my teammates' unfamiliarity with the domain, coupled with the careful use of personas, allowed us to create a truly successful design.
My Role
My role included presenting, market analysis and competitive survey, synthesis, presenting, and producing the Flash video sketch.
