The Design

LiveWell

"A community centered approach to healthy living."

The Mayo Clinic and Design Continuum sponsored this service design project, which challenged us to develop new ideas for the delivery of primary care and related services.

Though we initially chose a very broad territory for our inquiry, we later focused on how the health care industry could better support people's everyday health decisions.

Our process included journal studies with Mayo care providers and patients, remote video interviews, and several major design iterations.

My Role
My role in this project included leading the team in the design process, designing research materials, models and presentations, conducting generative research sessions and interviews, scripting, scoring, illustrating, and producing the video sketch and presenting to and interfacing with the Mayo Clinic.

LiveWell

Our design focuses on leveraging the abilities of existing stakeholders in small-town communities to promote and maintain a culture of wellness that helps individuals engage more fully with their health on a daily basis.

The service partners religious institutions, schools, supermarkets, gyms, restaurants, and employers in a network of wellness coordinated through a website.

My teammate Karl and I presented LiveWell to a group of doctors, service designers, and administrators at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota in December 2008.
